Are your kids bored and running out of things to do? Dyson is here to help. Yep, the company best-known for its vacuum cleaners has come out with a free set of engineering and science experiments for youngsters to try at home. And they only require basic household items you probably have around, like string, plastic bottles, eggs, and dish soap.
There are a total of 44STEM challenges, 22 science experiments and 22 engineering tasks geared for ages seven and above. They actually came out in 2016, but Dyson is re-promoting them to get kids excited about learning during self-isolation. “TheJames DysonFoundation encourages young people to think differently and realize their engineering potential,” the company explains. “You might make lots of mistakes trying to solve each task, but don’t give up—and have fun.”
The projects include one that involves creating a balloon-powered car using a balloon, a plastic cup, straws, thread, and rubber bands to demonstrate Newton’s Third Law. It could keep your kiddos busy for hours and there are no chemicals or explosions involved, so that’s a win-win.
