Pandemic Plus: It's a great time to learn new skills....here's how!

Not to sound like someone on the phone with Liam Neeson, but do you have a “particular set of skills?” If not, there’s no time like the present to start making yourself a more skillful person and impress the hell out of your family and friends in the process. Here are some of the top skills you can teach yourself:

  • Repair Just About Anything. Will you ever become a skilled handyman? Probably not, but the more stuff you learn to fix yourself, the better off you’ll be. YouTube is filled with how-to videos for basically anything and everything so why not give fixing things a shot yourself. It’ll be rewarding and save you a ton of money.
  • Pick Up An Artistic Skill. The only thing stopping you from getting better at drawing and painting is commitment. Set 15-30 minutes aside every day and focus on learning how to draw one simple thing like a hand. You’re going to be bad for a while but who cares? Break down the task into pieces and keep on practicing. Slowly but surely, you’ll get better.
  • Pick Up Just About Any Subject You Missed In School. Miss your chance to take a class or is there one you want to give another shot? Schools back in session. Just this time there are no grades and you don’t have to worry about being late. There are plenty of websites online offering free courses in just about everything and a lot of them take their lesson plans straight from existing college courses. You won’t end up with a degree for your hard work, but you will have bragging rights, and isn’t that what really matters?
