Traffic fatalities up in Arkansas

Traffic fatalities are at their highest in more than a decade. Those numbers continue to rise across Arkansas but especially in Northwest Arkansas.

In the last two years car fatalities went up by nearly 20-percent in the state.

People are more distracted than ever and it's not just texting that's causing accidents. Distracted drivers in general are a huge problem. Taking that one little moment and pulling over to the side is important. Because sending one little message or one little smiley face or one little email button, is not worth your life or somebody else's. You can't take that back.

The National Safety Coalition is  dedicating $1 million dollars for the "Road to Zero Grant Program,"  which hopes to eliminate traffic fatalities in the next 30 years all together.
