A 9-year-old girl in Pennsylvania recently showed compassion beyond her years when she decided to give all the toys she received at her birthday party to children at a homeless shelter.
Kyla Brady was inspired to make the donation after hearing her mother, Kristin, tell stories after coming home from work at the local YWCA. Kristin would explain to Kyla that there were children at the shelter with very few clothes – and even fewer toys.
So, Kyla asked the guests of her party to not shop for gifts for her, but instead to bring toys for either a boy or a girl of any age.
The 20 children who attended the party did just that, allowing Kyla and Kristin to deliver a carload of toys to the shelter.
Vanessa Castano, executive director of the YWCA, said the toys will be given to children to cheer them up when they arrive, which can make a big difference. (The Bradford Era)
