Today, March 8th, is International Women's Day, a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide. The theme for this year’s campaign is #BeBoldForChange.
And this year, March 8th also happens to be the international strike dubbed “A Day Without Women.”
If you are interested in taking part, here’s what the organizers encourage you to do:
- Not work, whether your job is paid or unpaid.
- Not shop – except for local small businesses and women- and minority-owned companies.
- Wear the color red. (Fortune)
And get this ... Two school districts have canceled classes today, because so many teachers and staff have taken the day off. The districts, in North Carolina and Virginia, said that the decision to cancel classes wasn't political ... it was just a practical response to the lack of staff. (Cosmo)
