AT&T says it has resolved a service outage which prevented its customers from reaching 911 emergency dispatchers last night (Wednesday).
The nationwide outage affected AT&T's cell phone customers. During the outage, police departments across the country tweeted their local phone numbers and urged people to call in the event of an emergency. At around 10:30 p.m. ET the problem had been resolved and AT&T tweeted, "Issue has been resolved that affected some calls to 911 from wireless customers. We apologize to those who were affected."
The FCC is investigating the cause of the outage.
