Dead bat leads to salad recall

If you recently purchased a Fresh Express Organic Marketside Spring Mix salad, you probably want to take a close look at the package. Fresh Express has issued a recall of certain packages after a pair of Florida diners found a dead bat in their salad.

The recall is for packages with the production code of G089B19 with the best-if-used-by date of April 14th.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the pair started to chow down on the salad before discovering the winged mammal in a "deteriorated condition." The dead bat was sent to the CDC lab to check for rabies, while Fresh Express quickly recalled the salads that were shipped to Walmart stores in the southeastern U.S. (USA Today)
