Service dog gets his pic in high school year book

The students of Stafford High School in Falmouth, Virginia, received a wonderful surprise in their yearbook this year as a familiar dog named Alpha was featured in the student pictures.

The kids all know the service dog Alpha because he follows 16-year-old Andrew Schalk – who happens to be diabetic – from class to class, keeping Andrew safe by detecting when Andrew’s blood sugar is too high or low through his incredible sense of smell.

The yearbook team placed an adorable picture of the black dog right next to his owner’s picture.

It was a great way to honor Alpha, who has become a big part of life at Stafford High. (Buzzfeed)
