Stephen Hawking, who's still one of the most brilliant scientists alive today, has some bad news for us. He says earth will be a "sizzling ball of fire by the year 2600." And, that's if artificial intelligence doesn't kill us all first.
Hawking thinks climate change is eventually going to wipe us out, which is why he's trying to figure out a way to develop tiny spaceships propelled by beams of light that could get us to Mars in less than an hour.
Without those tiny spaceships, we're toast – either because of global warming or because the machines rose up and killed us all.
Either way, we might as well party on while we can. (Metro)
