Rory Feek is best known for overalls, commercials, and his candid blog about his wife Joey's cancer battle. But, like many of us, he has secrets from his past that he's kept buried.

In a new memoir, the country singer shares some of the most intimate details of his life before Joey. In the book, This Life I Live, Feek shares the heartache of being a single dad, details of his courtship with Joey, and her desire to never have children. But, the most shocking confession was about a time long before Rory was a husband and father.

Rory writes that as a young Marine he was home on a weekend pass when he and some others went to visit his best friend. His friend wasn’t home, but his friend’s wife was and played hostess to the crew. According to Feek, he and the woman were very drunk “and then it happened.”

He writes that the next morning they were sitting at the kitchen table and “she was asking about the future.”

“She told me that we should come clean, that we were in love and should let everybody know it,” Feek writes. “I was still drunk. Exhausted. Reeling from what had happened the night before. It had felt like love … Maybe it was. I looked up and saw my friend’s wife looking at me like she cared about me. I said, ‘Okay, let’s do it.’ ”

According to Feek, his friend's wife and children moved in with him for six months before she realized she still loved her husband.

“And so with tears streaming down my face, I took her and those little boys to the airport and watched as they boarded a plane to try to go back and resume the life they had. Meanwhile, mine had been wrecked," Rory writes.
