In what can only be called a miracle, the 8-year old daughter of country singer Jamie Lynn Spears has been given a clean bill of health following a horrific accident that could have taken her life.
Spears' daughter, Maddie Aldridge, was involved in an accident on February 5 that left her unconscious after being submerged in a pond in a flipped over ATV. Spears and other family members attempted to free the child, but couldn't. Rescue personnel arrived and rescued Maddie who had been trapped underwater for several minutes.
Maddie remained unconscious for two days, leaving her family and doctors wondering what the long-term affects of her near-drowning would have on her. A friend of Maddie's father spoke with People saying:
“The doctors did a lot of tests before she woke up, and it was encouraging, but still — no one knew for sure,” said the friend. “Everyone was really worried because they didn’t know how bad the brain injury was. They didn’t know if she was going to recognize them or if she’d ever be the same.”
When Maddie regained consciousness, she showed no signs of neurological damage.
“When she woke up, they said that it was obvious that she recognized them all,” the friend added. “Everybody was crying because it was such a miracle.”
In an emotional post to social media Saturday (February 25), Jamie Lynn shared that her daughter had made a full recovery and had been cleared to resume her normal activities.
"So blessed to say that my daughter has fully recovered, and returned to all her normal activities. Which means I had to as well, today is my first day back to work," Spears wrote.
