The different types of parents on Christmas Day

Christmas parents, what type are you?

Christmas morning is different in every family. Some have magical setups waiting for their kiddos no matter how early they wake up and other houses look like Santa fell down the chimney and set up the presents after a few too many eggnogs. And if you’re a parent, you can probably relate to one of these Christmas morning types.

  • The Coffee-Fueled Parent - This mom or dad needs at least a pot before feeling human enough to let the Christmas morning festivities begin.
  • The Perfect Christmas Morning Parent - These types have the family room looking like a scene straight out of a Christmas movie, with a fire lit, Christmas music playing, and the smell of freshly baked treats filling the room.
  • The Pinterest Parent - This is the parent who finds creative ways to decorate for the holidays, including Rudolph look-alike snacks and wrapping paper that coordinates with the decorations.
  • The Hot Mess Parent - And this one is kind of the opposite of Pinterest-perfect. This mom or dad tries their best but everything goes wrong. This parent is tired and over it and they don’t care that it shows.
  • The Clean-As-You-Go Parent - You know, this is the one with a garbage bag ready when the kids open presents so not so much as a piece of wrapping paper hits the floor.
  • The Record-Every-Moment Parent - They have a camera in their kids’ faces from the moment they wake up until the last gift is unwrapped so they don’t miss a thing.
  • The Threatening Parent - They threaten to return all the presents if the kids don’t behave and keep it up all day as they visit family.
  • The Present Master Parent - Some moms and dads pick the perfect gift for everyone on their list and they’ll never give up their secrets.
  • The Good-At-Faking-It Parent - If they didn’t like the sweater they unwrapped or the rock their son painted, you’ll never see it on their face.
  • The Resourceful Parent - This is the one who saves every box, bow, and gift bag for next year’s presents, so not one single thing gets wasted.
  • The Have-At-It Parent - These folks sit back, let the kids do their thing, and just take it all in. There are so many rules in life, they don’t feel Christmas morning needs any.
