Dementia cases are on the rise, but it doesn’t have to be that way.The World Health Organizationsays there are about 50-million cases now – and that it could triple. In a new report, the WHO is offering some hints to reduce your risk…and keep your brain as healthy as your body. Like what? Like this:
- Get Regular Exercise– That goes hand-in-hand with increasing memory and learning. The workouts don’t have to too crazy, but running around the block at full speed does a lot for the brain.
- Stop Smoking– Nothing good comes from smoking. It kills brain cells, which of course would have a negative effect on how you think.
- Avoid Heavy Alcohol Consumption– Too much of anything can’t be good, right?
- Control Weight– Many things affect your weight, but it’s all about control. Exercise and less stress will only help in this department.
- Eat A Healthy Diet– If you’re looking for a good diet to try, think about the Mediterranean diet. It keeps depression away and brain health on a high.
- Maintain Healthy Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and Blood Sugar Levels– Try eating a plant-based diet and avoid the addictive processed food.
These are a few starting points, but nothing beats seeing an actual doctor.
