"Screen time" is hurting the American lifestyle!

Americans spend a lot of their time in front of screens these days, and most people realize it’s not a good thing. 

A new survey finds:

  • The average American spends 10 hours a day in front of screens, with five hours spent on a screen at the office, and another five hours in front of screens in their personal life.
  • One in seven people don’t put any limits on how much time they spend in front of screens.
  • People love their screens so much they look at them within the first four minutes of waking up.
  • What’s more, 24% feel uneasy if they don’t look at their device within 10% of being wake.

And it’s apparent to some people that this isn’t the best way to go.

  • 78% admit they spend too much time on their devices.
  • 75% believe screens are negatively impacting their lives.
  • One area that’s affected the most is eye health, with 50% saying smartphones are harming their eyes, and another 50% saying it’s computers.
  • 57% experience eye strain looking at screens for too long, while 54% get headaches from staring at their screens.
  • Other symptoms of looking at a screen too long include:
    • Eyestrain (57%)
    • Headaches (54%)
    • Dry eyes (45%)
    • Blurred vision (44%)
    • Neck and shoulder pain (27%)
