Money secrets that couples keep from each other!

Here’s something you can take to the bank.While it’s well-documented millennials don’t have a lot of money, it turns out we’re pretty sneaky with the little we do have.Especially with our boo.

A recent survey says about a quarter of millennials admit to keeping a financial secret from a partner.Which is not ideal since roughly athird of romantic partnershipsend because of fights around money.

So what’s the big secret?Here are our generation’s biggest financial infidelities.

  • Credit Card Debt.About half of millennials surveyed said they’ve hid a credit card bill from their bae. Be honest, you went a bit nuts over the holidays, didn’t you?
  • Gambling.Betting on the ponies was the next biggest financial secret. Did your partner say they gave up the habit? They may be fibbing because according to the survey, 15% of our generation says they’ve hidden a bet or two.
  • Student Loans.Trailing just behind gambling is student loan debt with 13% of millennials lying about how much they owe.If you’re not careful, your boo might catch you sneaking around with Fannie Mae.

It’s difficult to talk about money but honesty is the best policy. When it comes to these types of debt, relationship expert Rachel DeAlto says “if you want to maintain trust with your partner, own it and create a plan to improve your financial situation.”
