Divorce is never easy, and sometimes it isn’t so simple to know whether your marriage is suffering problems that can’t be fixed, or whether it pays to work on a relationship. But then there are times when you just know a marriage is over, and now some people are sharing that moment they knew.
Buzzfeed asked their community to share the moment that they knew it was time to get a divorce and some of the revelations are a bit shocking.
They include:
- “He was caught cheating. I should have been upset, but I felt nothing. That's when I told him it was time for him to go."
- "I was in the hospital for 15 days while recovering from kidney surgery. I realized I had fallen out of love with my ex-husband when he didn't even visit or call me once... When he picked me up from the hospital and we got home, he asked me what I was going to make us for dinner.”
- "I knew I had to end things after he told me that he had been keeping a secret diary of all the things I did 'wrong. He also told me he cheated on me and that the only reason he married me was because he needed help with rent."
- "I knew it was time to get a divorce when my ex treated me like a roommate instead of a spouse."
- "My mom knew it was time to get divorced when her blood sugar was over 500 and my dad wouldn’t get up from his nap to take her to the emergency room."
- "When I found out that she was sleeping with not one, but two of my closest friends."
- "I knew it was time for a divorce when our seven-week-old daughter was in the NICU for five days, and he went golfing. Twice."
- "One day my husband came home and told me he’d always love me in a certain way, but he was going to start sleeping with other women. He said I'd 'just have to learn to deal with it.' That's when I knew I had to end the marriage."
- "I had to get a routine operation, and all I could think about was that if I died during surgery, I would be free of him. That's when I knew I didn't want to spend the rest of my life with him."
