One judge lays down the law!
A Florida judge wrote a stern letter to lawyers in his district about decorum and reminded everyone that just because they're participating in court hearings from home via Zoom, they still have to get out of bed and get dressed.
Judge Dennis Bailey of Broward Circuit Court wrote, "It is remarkable how many attorneys appear inappropriately on camera. We've seen many lawyers in casual shirts and blouses, with no concern for ill-grooming, in bedrooms with the master bed in the background, etc. One male lawyer appeared shirtless and one female attorney appeared still in bed, still under the covers."
Judge Bailey reminded attorneys that they're professional and should therefore look professional, as they would if they were in court.
