What your office might look like as you return to work.

If you’re headed back to work soon in your newly reopened office, you might be wondering how exactly things are going to work with a virus still loaming outside the doors. Despite your company’s email that you’re “all in this together,” and that they’re “committed to your well being,” you might be a little skeptical. Here’s what a safe office should look like according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

Safe office layout.According to the CDC, every office should be taking employees’ temperatures daily and logging any coronavirus symptoms before they start work. Also, your cubicle should look like something out of a Sci-Fi movie with transparent shields or other physical barriers and furniture that can be sanitized. And say goodbye to your water cooler, coffee pot, and office snacks because all high-touch things in the breakroom could be going extinct.

Office interaction. No more sealing deals with handshakes or even a fist bump. Social distance rules still apply so maintain that six-foot bubble to the best of your ability. The CDC would also like everyone to be wearing masks while doing business. Not just people working close to coworkers or customers.Everyone.And you may need to add some time into your morning routine to factor in waiting for an empty elevator because they’d like the limits on those hot boxes of COVID-19 to go way down.

Commute & Hours. The new CDC wants to change up the nine-to-five grind. They’re recommending staggering shifts, start times and break times, as well as shorter, flexible workweeks. And we’ll need to find a new use for the carpool lanes in America because if the CDC has their way, we’ll be heading into work via single-occupancy rides only.So if you’re into investing, shift that money you had in Uber over into Bicycles I guess...
