The pets are loving the lockdown!!

You might be in a rush to get out of the house, but unless there’s a leash in your hand, your pets are probably cool with this quarantine thing lasting forever. The plus sides of this lockdown are few and far between but one of the biggest bright spots is that it has brought many owners much closer to their furbabies.

A new survey has found 84% of pet owners say they feel more attuned to their pet’s health and needs than ever before. That bond does come at a price though. Feeling closer also has 59% of pet parents worried about the separation anxiety their pup or cat may feel when they have to return to work. Not to mention the stress they’ll feel themselves leaving the cutest coworker they’ve ever had back at their home office.

But since they’ve been there for them during this crisis, pet owners plan to make it up to their pets post-COVID by being the best parents they can be. In fact, 47% say they’re committed to spending more time with their pets at home when things reopen and 21% plan to ask their boss for a different schedule to get more doggo time.

Some Other Stats:

  • 33% said their pet has gained weight in quarantine due to them over spoiling.
  • 47% of pet owners are talking to their pets more often. Cat owners tend to chat up their pets more often than dog owners and women are more likely to talk to their pets than men.
