Wedding foul or not? Would you sign a waiver?

We know trying to throw a wedding during the age of the coronavirus isn’t easy, and there are all sorts of rules that need to be followed, but one bride may have taken things a bit too far.

An anonymous poster took to the Facebook group “That’s It, I’m Wedding Shaming,” to reveal the ridiculous set of rules guests recently received from her cousin for their upcoming nuptials, captioning the post, “If you have to make your guests sign a waiver, just elope.”

The list of rules included: no children or plus ones, and folks need to dress accordingly, which aren’t outrageous, but then things got a bit much. Because of COVID, the rules stated that masks were optional, as was staying six feet apart. But then the couple noted guests would have to sign a COVID-19 waiver. The cousin noted that the waiver was actually a bit ridiculous, since the wedding wasn’t being held at a licensed venue but instead a person’s property.

While folks on social media had some major issues with the waiver, others were shocked over one of the other wedding rules. Apparently the note insisted that guests bring their own beer, and folks were not at all down with that.

  • “Bring your own beer AND you might die? Best wedding ever!” one person commented, while another added, “If you’re asking me to die at least pay for the alcohol you cheap hillbilly.”
  • Another shared, “There are zero redeemable qualities about this invite. Does your cousin actually want people to show up?”
