We know that most brides and grooms are probably hoping their guests gift them with money, and lots of it, one but couple found a truly outrageous way to increase their money haul, and folks online are absolutely shocked at their greediness.
What is believed to be a wedding RSVP sent out by a couple was recently shared on Reddit’s “Wedding Shaming” forum and people can’t quite deal. On the RSVP the senders ask guests to let them know how much they would be giving as a gift, with those who gift more getting more options for their dinner meal.
For example:
- Those giving gifts up to $250 will get a choice of chicken or swordfish.
- Gifts of $251 to $500 will also have the option of sliced steak or poached salmon.
- Gifts of $501 and $1,000 will also be able to choose filet mignon or lobster tails.
- And those who give between $1,001 and $2,500 (or even more) will fall into the “Platinum Gift” level and can choose any dish from the other levels or a two-pound lobster and souvenir champagne goblet.
- It also notes that vegetarian and kosher meals are available at the Platinum Gift tier.
As you can imagine, folks on Reddit had a lot to say about this outrageous RSVP.
- “Everybody should just say their gift was over $1K, eat the 2lb of lobster, and laugh thinking about the couple opening their $40 toaster later,” one person noted.
- While another added, “That is horrific. My response would be zero and I will bring McDonald’s.”
- “I don't know what's worse, the tiered food based on gift... or that vegetarians/kosher diet people are only at the $1k+ level,” another added. "Vegetarian or Jewish Friends? FU pay us!"
- Some wondered whether the invite was actually for some sort of charity gala or a wedding, although the original poster did not have that information, and many thought it was still tacky even if it was.
