Say good-bye to Uncle Ben

The Uncle Ben's rice brand is changing its name and logo amid criticism that they depict racial stereotypes.

Parent company Mars Inc. announced that the 70-year-old brand will now be called Ben's Original and a new logo will appear on packaging next year. A company spokesperson says, "We listened to our associates and our customers and the time is right to make meaningful changes across society. When you are making these changes, you are not going to please everyone. But it's about doing the right thing, not the easy thing."

The decision follows similar moves by Aunt Jemima and Cream of Wheat which also dropped racially insensitive logos from their packages.
