Ways to combat ZOOM fatigue!

It’s honestly impressive how fast we’ve gone from ‘isn’t Zoom cool!?’to‘ oh my goodness if I do another Zoom today, I am going to lose it.’ Zoom fatigue is real, but lucky for you – there’s also a quick and easy fix to cure it. All you have to do is change up where you’re taking that call from. Instead of sitting down with your laptop on your couch, take the call on your phone, and do a walk-and-talk. Here are some reasons why it could help if you need some convincing:

  • Exercise. Your FitBit has been yelling you to get more steps in, so why not during your Zoom meetings? Besides getting the blood flowing, a nice walk will make the time go by a lot quicker as opposed to passively listening along like it’s the worst audiobook ever.
  • Focus. You might be thinking that if you’re walking with your phone you’re going to miss something but you might actually find yourself more engaged than just sitting with your computer. Why? Because when you’re Zooming via mobile, you can’t see the other participants, so you’ll be able to concentrate on the one speaker instead of scanning all the boxes and checking out your coworkers.
  • Less Awkward. If you want to take full advantage of the walk-and-talk strategy, put on some headphones with a mic built-in and mute yourself when you aren’t talking. Nobody wants to hear your heavy breathing and unless there are visuals you need to see, you could most likely get away with putting your phone into your pocket after you connect. That way you don’t have to worry about interrupting with your walking sounds or running into something while holding your phone out in front of you.
