TROPICS: Zeta Forms, Targets the Gulf
Tropical Storm Zeta formed on Sunday and is projected to move into the Gulf of Mexico and strengthen into a hurricane later today.
The National Hurricane Center expects Zeta to become a Category 1 hurricane as it moves north through the Gulf and takes aim at the already hard-hit Gulf coast. The storm could make landfall later this week somewhere between Louisiana and Florida's Panhandle. Zeta is the 27th named storm of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
