Luke Combs shared a behind-the-scenes look at the making of his “Back in the Saddle” music video on Thursday (August 14). The high-energy visual featured NASCAR legends Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Richard Petty.

The behind-the-scenes look offers a glimpse of how Combs, the NASCAR Hall of Fame members, director Tyler Adams and the rest of the team brought the full throttle video to life on a racetrack. Adams said the “most challenging” moment to film with Combs was on the flag stand (h compared it to the “When It Rains It Pours” music video, where Combs appeared on a boat and the team used a drone to film).

“‘Cause I’m back in the saddle like some old cowboy / Who dug his way out of his grave / Pulled up his boots, put his pistol on his hip / Climbed up and took hold of the reins / Don’t worry where I’ve been / I’m back in the saddle again”

Combs tagged fellow songwriters Jonathan Singleton and The Brothers Hunt — writers and God’s Country podcast hosts Dan and Reid Isbell — when he teased the single before its release last month. He first started sharing subtle teasers earlier this year, including in a “life update” when he said he’s “getting back in the saddle here. Back in the studio. I’m very excited about that.” Combs wrote in his caption that “there also may or may not be an Easter egg regarding new music in this video that will one day make sense.” Since then, the powerhouse country star has also released his collaborative rendition of “Ordinary” with Alex Warren. The pair performed Warren’s viral single together at Lollapalooza, where Combs made history as the first country artist to headline the festival.
