Americans really love their concerts...as in REALLY love 'em!

These days there are plenty of ways to be entertained in your own home, whether it’s through streaming services, video games and more. But it seems even with all of that, there are plenty of people who would still rather get out and enjoy some live entertainment.

A new study finds:

  • 99% of Americans will attend at least one live, shared or experiential event this year.
  • 52% will go to at least 10 of these type of events, like concerts, theater, festivals, or sports.
  • 72% of people are willing to spend between $51 and $500 on a live event, while 12% will spend as much as $1,000.
  • 74% of people are willing to spend more money on a live event than a vacation
  • 67% have taken off from work or called in sick to “recover” from their event.
  • 46% go to live events to hook up or make new connections.

Now getting tickets to these live events, as well as affording them, isn’t always easy, but that isn’t necessarily stopping some folks. When folks can’t get tickets…

  • 23% have tried sneaking into an event.
  • 21% have attempted to re-use another ticket to get in.
  • 19% have used a screen-shot of another ticket
  • 18% have tried bribing event staff to let them in.

ONE MORE THING! When it comes to artists they love, fans are willing to do a lot just to get their attention.

  • 23% have admitted stalking the talent.
  • 24% have thrown intimate apparel, like undies and bras, on stage to get noticed.
  • 50% have done something to try and get an artist’s attention, like shouting their love for the artist (56%) or purchasing backstage passes (47%).
