Are you lonely? You're not alone!

Sorry to the Beatles because it turns out,one is no longer the loneliest number. It’s actually more like 52 because a recent survey showed over half of adults say they get lonely.

Why? For 28% of the lonely peeps, they say they simply don’t have enough time to socialize. This could account for why 20% said they do all their chatting online. Another 33% said they can’t find someone with similar interests, and over 36% said they are simply too shy.

Not that we needed another issue with our generation and younger, but it appears loneliness is hitting young people the hardest. When the study looked specifically at age groups they found people over 55 dropped below the average lonely-level, but that 68% of 18 and 24-year-olds feel isolated. In fact, a fifth of respondents said they felt they’re most lonely in their twenties. To put it another way...we can Tik the Tok, but we can’t talk the talk.

  • But if you solitary folks want a positive spin, how about this, you’re not alone in feeling lonely. Not good enough? What if you found out all the people you see online with lots of friends, also feel alone? Interestingly, 64% said that even with plenty of friends and relationships it’s still possible to feel lonesome.

Comparing sadness not your bag? How about some real help? Over half of the survey said joining a community group would make them feel less alone, and 25% of them said it would boost their confidence. Why not join one?!
