Working in your office could be great if it wasn’t for all your coworkers.Ever wonder if it’s just you getting super annoyed by something at work? To ease your mind that you aren’t a total drama queen, a new survey has identified the biggest pet peeves in the office.
America’s top 10 worst office offenders are:
- Coworkers coming to work sick
- Malfunctioning hardware or slow computer
- Coworker coming in late or leaving early
- Coworker not washing hands before leaving the bathroom
- People arranging meetings to discuss things that could be put in an email
- Printer out of paper, jammed or broken
- Coworkers chatting with each other or on the phone in a shared room
- Slow WiFi
- Coworkers texting or browsing social media during work hours
- Too many meetings
Interestingly, the survey didn’t find any major differences in what upsets men and women in the office. Other than women being slightly more concerned about hygiene, and men averaging higher amounts of being annoyed all around, it turns out annoying crap in the office is the great unifier when it comes to the sexes.
On the other hand, the study did find a difference when it came to age.Basically, the older you get, the more stuff you’ll put up with.Gen-Z and Millennials reported higher annoyance levels than Gen-X and Baby Boomers on 26 out of 28 common office pet peeves.
However, the‘crotchety old man’ stereotypeis still in play when it comes to health. The older generations reported higher levels of being annoyed when people came to work sick.Don’t cough near the guy that’s about to retire unless you want him to hate your guts.
