Things to do on a "No Screen Weekend"

Mothermagazine published 100 waysto spend the weekend completely disconnected from screens. Set aside your phone, unplug the cable and turn off your iPad. Then plan family fun like we’re living in the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1917.

A few suggestions include:

  • Dance Party From the Decades: As a family, learn TikTok dances or create your own. Parents can teach the dance craze of their teenage years. Have fun with YouTube tutorials on dances from the '50s, '60s and '70s. Learn how to moonwalk like Michael Jackson.
  • Family Fashion Show: Rummage through closets and dresser drawers. Let the kids play “dress up.” Create a lighted runway. Be adventurous and have dad slip into one of mom’s old dresses while she tries on his shirts and trousers.
  • Construction Project:Collect the Amazon boxes that have arrived almost daily. Build a home for stuffed animals. Stack them into a “skyscraper.” Link them together to create a habitrail for your furry pets.
  • Indoor Bowling: Save your water bottles for 10-pin bowling. Make it challenging by playing blindfolded.
  • Indoor Camping: Make a blanket fort, add sleeping bags, tell ghost stories and turn on flashlight for entertaining “shadow theater.”
