STUCK AT HOME: You Are Doing Enough
Mental health experts believe we’re doing our best considering the circumstances. This is the first pandemic for all if us. How we respond to the challenges will wildly vary.
Sometimes, we need to calm our nerves by doing nothing. Sit and chill.
We’re living in lockdown. Some of us might feel guilty for committing a few of the deadly sins: sloth, lust and gluttony.
Others have mixed feelings about being quarantined. We want to protect ourselves and loved ones, but also have pangs of guilt. We see the first responders, who risk their own health to save lives. Remind yourself: They're uniquely trained to respond to a crisis.
Psychiatrists often share this advice with patients, (quote) “Don’t just do something, sit there.” Sometimes, doing nothing at all helps to pull us out of a guilt and shame spiral.
