Common topics being discussed in therapy!! #3 is interesting!

Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes are hot sellers right now, and so are therapy sessions. People are turning to teletherapy more than ever during this crisis and according to mental health professionals, their clients all have a lot of similar concerns. Here are some of the most common issues people are bringing up during their treatments.

  • “I feel burned out.”It doesn’t matter if they’re an essential employee or working from home, people are feeling mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted across the board. Psychologist Ryan Howes says a lot of his clients feel “depleted” and lacking things to get excited about. So yes, you’re not the only one.
  • “I’m really worried about my family.”Therapist Anna Posssays she’s seeing a lot of people who “worry about family members who are in high-risk groups, are essential workers on the front lines or are not taking guidance about social distancing and safety precautions seriously.” To alleviate some of that stress, she has her patients journal, meditate, or other relaxation practices.
  • “I feel guilty about finding pockets of joy in all of this.”The corona-guilt is real. A lot of therapy goers say they’re actually enjoying certain parts of the quarantine and beating themselves up over it. Howes says “when some joy creeps in, they feel like a monster for feeling good when so many are struggling and suffering.”His advice?Don’t fight those moments, embrace them.
