While most people’s Memorial Day weekend plans had to be scrapped this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it seems lots of folks are hopeful that they’ll get to vacation this summer.
A new survey finds:
- 65% of Americans have increased the number of trips they have planned for the summer.
- 44% say they’ve used their time in quarantine to plan a trip.
- 54% did so to take advantage of deals discounts available because of the coronavirus.
- 62% of people say they need the vacation to get a break from the loved one or loved ones they’ve been quarantined with.
Of course, vacations may look a little different this summer than in year’s past.
- Responses to the survey were based on the assumption that folks would be able to travel safely with social distancing guidelines and travel restrictions lifted.
- Regardless, because of the coronavirus, 35% of people say they prefer to drive rather than fly on their vacation.
- Folks would gladly add six hours and 38 minutes to their trip to avoid traveling on a plane.
- Of the 88% of people with at least one trip planned for summer, 53% will be taking a road trip.
- 52% say coronavirus has inspired them to take an outdoors-focused trip.
- 56% of people say they reconnected with family and friends during the lockdown, with 64% of those folks planning to visit one of these friends or family this summer.
- And some folks are so in need of a break that 65% say they are seriously considering traveling the entire summer.
