Dating is different during quarantine and now it seems singles are using their coronavirus status to try and hook up. They’re bragging about their coronavirus antibody test results and some are even including them in their online dating profiles to try to boost their chances with potential matches.
Matchmaker Maureen Tara Nelson reports that her clients are now asking if people she pairs them with have had it and now she plans to ask clients about their status going forward. She says the health precaution “keeps clients more safe and in the know,” but people should still proceed with caution. A positive antibody test can show evidence of an immune reaction to COVID-19, but it’s not a guarantee that you’re not at risk by hopping into bed with them.
Antibody talk is something Breanna Locke has been seeing on the dating apps. She says one guy on Hinge tried to convince her to come over by telling her he already had coronavirus and recovered, so she wouldn’t get it from him. Shetweeted, “‘I’ve already had covid and recovered, so you won’t catch it from me’ is the new ‘I’ve had std testing and am clean’ lie men are telling trying to get laid.”Stay safe out there, people.
