America has been in a state of turmoil over the murder of George Floyd. To review, the 46-year-old died in Minneapolis last week after Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds. As we saw in the now-viral video, the cop didn’t move even as Floyd repeatedly groaned, cried and said, “Please, the knee in my neck, I can’t breathe.” What was worse, his fellow officers –Thomas K Lane,Tou Thao, andJ Alexander Kueng– stood by and did nothing. All four of them have been fired and Derek has been arrested and charged in the case.
Kris Jenner,Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Reese Witherspoon are just a few of the A-listers that have taken to social media to express their outrage at this heinous act.Vanessa Bryant shared a picture of the late Kobe Bryant wearing a t-shirt that said, “I Can’t Breathe” – a nod to the death of Eric Garner in 2014 at the hand of cops in New York City. “My husband wore this shirt years ago and yet here we are again,” she said in the caption.
Jamie Foxx was quite poignant in hisplea for people to protest without losing focus.
