How spontaneous are you?

While you may not consider yourself a very spontaneous person, you’d be surprised to find out that’s probably not really true.

A new survey finds:

  • The average person is spontaneous about 18 times a day, which leads to 6,709 spontaneous decisions every year.
  • Interestingly, only about one in six people consider themselves to be spontaneous.
  • And all that spontaneity could be a good thing.
  • 72% of people say they feel happier if they act in a spontaneous way.
  • Of those who don’t think of themselves as spontaneous, one in three say they feel happy when they act spontaneously.
  • Of those who consider themselves to be a spontaneous person, 38% are more likely to be confident and satisfied in their life.
  • Overall 59% of folks say they’ve made a big spontaneous decision in the past.

So, what type of spontaneous decisions are people making?

  • 56% of folks have gone on a spontaneous trip in the past five years, with 88% feeling happier because of it.
  • Other types of spontaneous decisions include:
    • Switching careers
    • Adopting a dog
    • Moving to a new country
    • Ending a marriage
