Tips for the "stay-cation"!

When you combine the travel restrictions, business closings, and the ever-changing rules of leaving home, the best option for your summer vacation becomes pretty clear. It’s to turn your home office into your new, all-inclusive, home resort. And here’s how to get the most out of it.

  • Relax Your Schedule. No need to worry about getting up early enough to hit some tourist trap when you’re on a staycation. Turn off your alarms, slap an away message on your emails, and pencil yourself in for brunch instead of breakfast, because you’re sleeping in. And not the regular quarantine, skip the commute type of sleeping in. The‘i’ve got to get up to check if my legs still work’type of sleeping in.
  • Excuse Yourself From Cooking For The Night. You wouldn’t be cooking in your hotel on a real vacation, would you? So don’t make yourself do it on a staycation. Order some takeout or grab some of the fancy frozen meals you always look at in the store but never buy. Whatever you do, minimize the amount you have to spend cleaning dishes on your time off.
  • Seek Out Special Treats.Try not to shame yourself out of doing things on your staycation. On paper, three hours of reading on a lawn chair with a cool drink in your backyard may seem excessive, but you wouldn’t think that if that was a beach chair at a vacation resort. Staycations aren't meant for being efficient with your time. Relax and take the day as it comes.
