With most Americans working from home during the coronavirus lockdown, some with no form of childcare, many were allowed to adopt flexible schedules, and it may be beneficial for employers to think about making it a permanent situation.
A new Robert Half survey finds:
- 79% of workers say their job allows for windowed work, meaning they are allowed to break up their day into segments of business and personal time.
- Such windowed work is having a positive impact on employees, with 73% saying it leads to greater productivity.
- Not surprisingly, more workers with children felt windowed work led to increased productivity.
- In fact, 78% of those with children said they were more productive as compared to 66% of those without.
- When it comes to genders, an equal number of men and women found it more productive to be able to switch from personal and professional activities through out the day (75% vs. 71%).
- As for a more traditional schedule, older employees (55+) were more likely to prefer it it (39%), as compared to those 41 to 54 (32%) and those 25 to 40 (22%).
