Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson buys the XFL!

DWAYNE JOHNSON: Buys the XFL

Dwayne Johnson is getting back to his first love. No, we don't mean wrestling -- we're talking about football.

The Rock has just struck a deal to buy the bankrupt XFL for $15 million. Vince McMahon's second-tier league was actually doing OK in the spring until COVID-19 forced officials to call off the season. With somewhere between $10 million and $50 million in debt, and no revenue source, the league filed for bankruptcy.

Johnson has teamed up with his longtime business partner and ex-wife Dany Garcia and investment firm RedBird Capital. He says, "With pride and gratitude for all that I’ve built with my own two hands, I plan to apply these callouses to the XFL, and look forward to creating something special for the players, fans and everyone involved for the love of football."

There's no word on when the XFL will re-launch. The deal has to be approved by a bankruptcy judge.
