While some men can certainly pull off the bald look, no man with a nice mane wants to admit when they start losing it. And according to a new survey, a lot of those guys wind up in denial for a long time.
A new poll finds:
- Men spend two-and-a-half years “in denial” about their receding hairline.
- 10% actually spend a decade or more before admitting their hair is thinning out.
- Among the top reasons men try hard to hang on to their thinning hair:
- Fear of looking older
- Fear of being less attractive
- Fear their friends will make fun of them
- According to the survey, the average man begins losing their hair between 26 and 30.
- Around 7% started experiencing hair loss as early as age 18.
- 47% would feel awful to realize their hair was thinning.
- More than half of men feel their confidence would take a hit from thinning hair.
- 20% would actually cancel a date or call in sick because they were self-conscious about their hair.
Once men realize their hair is thinning:
- 62% say they would do whatever they could to hold on to their hair for as long as they can.
- 41% would just accept it and shave their head.
- A third would wear a hat to hide their thinning hair
- 29% would style their hair in a different way.
