Ways to tackle your "to-do list"!

The problem with to-do lists is you never know what to-do first. So let’s take a minute to prioritize, prioritization, and get to the bottom of figuring out what should be at the top of your list. Here’s the questions that psychologist Dr. Naphtali Hoff saysto ask yourself to determine your most important tasks, aka your MITs.

  • What are the most 2-3 important things that I need to do today? It’s as easy as looking at your checklist and think about what “needs” to get done ASAP.Ask yourself what task would make the biggest difference for you today. Narrow it down to a top three and get to work.
  • What is the task’s value? Some tasks have a real value attached to them like money while the worth of others is more hidden. But Hoff says “to be truly successful, everything that we do must have a value attached to it.” So take a second to assign a value to all the tasks on your schedule. Once you’ve got your made-up point system in place, prioritizing them should be a breeze.
  • Is it a task that you’ve been thinking about for some time? You know that task that you’ve been putting off, but think about all the time, even when you’re doing something else? That’s more than likely your real MIT. Get that done and clear up that brain space for other things.
