A very odd dating "deal-breaker"!

Want to boost your chances of finding love? You’d better be recycling. According to a new survey, many millennials and Gen Zers don’t want to date someone who doesn’t recycle. The poll from Decluttr – a site for selling your old CDs, DVDs and tech items – finds that these respondents, who are between the ages of 18 and 29, are “extremely concerned” about the environment and 47% say they don’t want to be romantically involved with non-recyclers.

Some of those polled have some hard-core feelings about people’s plastic habits, with 45% saying they wouldn’t date someone who used an excessive amount of single-use plastic. They also voiced strong opinions about global warming, 67% say they believe it’s a “real, man-made and serious threat” and 71% rank it as a higher concern than the economy.

Other findings from the survey include:

  • 69% would boycott a brand for not following eco-friendly business practices.
  • But 60% admit not knowing what the term “e-waste” means (it’s electronic waste.)
  • As for their habits, 90% of millennials and Gen Zers recycle regularly, 43% say they compost and 27% shop “zero plastic” to help the planet.
