There are some relationship dealbreakers that are so serious they could cause couples to call things off when they’re revealed. We’re talking about biggies like wanting to get married and have kids, or not having your friends and family accept your partner. And then there are the ones that come up and even though they’re much more casual, they still make you question if you could keep dating this person. According to a recent survey done by OnePoll for Ultimate Ears, for two-thirds of people, a partner’s bad taste in music can be one of those dating dealbreakers.
It’s one of those things you might not notice, or you think you could handle it, that is until you take a four-hour road trip with them and they play artists you can’t stand the entire time. That’s when you realize music compatibility can make or break you as a couple. Sure, musical preference is highly personal, but the survey finds three in five people believe they were born with good music taste.
And when they’re trying to impress a love interest, some may resort to being dishonest about their taste in music - three in 10 of those surveyed admit they’ve lied to a partner about their love for a song or artist. So even if you think you and your sweetie are on the same page about music, they could just be telling you what you want to hear.
