Job skills that you can make you attractive right now

Between all the qualified candidates now job hunting due to being laid off, and companies expanding where they’re looking for employees with work going remote, you’ve got to do everything you can to make yourself stand out. That includes training on whatever in-demand skill you can. Here are a few that should be a top priority according to LinkedIn data.

  • Connection And Community. If we’ve learned anything from 2020 it’s that communication and connection aren’t optional, they’re essential. Expect to see a lot more job listings to include skills like emotional intelligence, effective listening, and critical thinking moving forward into the “new normal.” And social awareness and community connections are becoming a top priority as well. In fact, the V.P. of Inclusion Strategy at Netflix and instructor Verna Myers’course “Confronting Bias: Thriving Across Our Differences” saw a 572% increase in people watching it between July and May.So basically, stay woke to stay employed.
  • Trending Skills. It’s time to boost the skills section of your resume. LinkedIn’s learning center is seeing people brush up on Excel and project management skills and adding some new technical abilities to their tool belt. For example, courses on the programming language Python currently rank in the top five most popular courses globally this year. Which makes sense as job postings looking Python skills have been going up 29% year over year.
