The new record follows her album kelsea, which was released in March. That one featured pop-country songs meant to be performed at her tour dates, which were cancelled because of the pandemic. Kelsea deconstructed those songs and recorded them again, this time with less production.
She says, “kelsea is glitter: bold and effervescent and dreams that are boundless. She’s who I want to be. While ballerini is emotional, vulnerable, soft: observes her surroundings and chooses her words carefully. She’s who I am."
Kelsea is slated to perform at the ACM Awards on Wednesday on CBS. She'll also appear on James Corden on Monday.
