LADY A: Blues Singer Countersues
Blues singer Lady A has filed a counter suit against Lady A in an attempt to block them from using the name.
Lady Antebellum officially changed their name to their nickname, Lady A, when it became clear that the word antebellum had racial connotations.Anita White, who performs and records under the name Lady A, claims the band was trying to erase her.
All parties spoke privately, settled the matter and agreed that they'd both use the name. Lady A and White even began writing a song together. White then asked the band for $10 million. They responded by filing a lawsuit claiming they applied for a trademark to use the name exclusively as early as 2010.
