Babies have it good. They get to cry whenever and wherever they want. Meanwhile, adults have to be sneakier about it and a new study has found exactly where everyone’s favorite hiding spot is.
According to a new survey, 74% of people say they do their crying in the shower. While privacy definitely plays into it why the tub is the spot for waterworks, the hot water also is a perk. Psychologist Waldie Hanser says the most common things people do for self-comfort is listening to music, cry, and make themselves feel warmer. So if just get a Bluetooth speaker in there, the shower has the top three covered.
But science shows that crying alone isn’t exactly an effective way to get the feels out. According to a study from the University of South Florida, people who “received social support” while they cried were the most likely to say their mood improved after the tears. So goodbye Zoom happy hours and hello digital cry fests!
