Napping gets a bad rap and is often seen as an activity for lazy, soft people. But getting some midday shuteye isn’t just for those of us that “can’t hang,” naps are actually something that the hardest people in the world do. Like the U.S. Army. They just released a guide to their “strategic and aggressive napping” and here’s how you can add it to your own routine.
- Nap Like You’re In The Army. Due to the nature of their work, getting a solid eight hours of sleep isn’t really an option. Instead, soldiers can use short, infrequent naps to restore wakefulness and promote performance. According to their guide, Army members are advised to “take the longest nap possible as frequently as time is available.”
- Beat The Afternoon Dip. Pulling off an ultra-brief nap if you’re back in the office might not be an option, but if you’re still working from home, it might help more than you’re midday coffee. Instead of fighting that afternoon dip in energy, take this as an opportunity to get some rest. Just don’t sleep for so long you end up messing with your bedtime. Get in and out of bed like it’s a covert mission.
