From the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department:
Interstate 49 Northbound Nightly Lane Closures in Springdale
WASHINGTON & BENTON COUNTIES (3-8) – Construction work on I-49 will require regular overnight lane closures in Springdale, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
Weather permitting, beginning Wednesday, March 8, drivers northbound on I-49 should expect lane closures from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. between mile markers 71 and 74. Traffic will be restricted to one lane and controlled by message boards, traffic drums and other signage. This closure is expected to end by Wednesday, March 15.
In March 2016, the Arkansas Highway Commission awarded a contract in the amount of $6,260,081.42 to Manhattan Road & Bridge Co., of Tulsa, OK, for the project. This project will widen the Elm Springs Road bridge over I-49 and make improvements to the Elm Springs Road (Exit 73) interchange.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
