A lot of kids at Texas Children's Hospital got some very special birthday gifts recently, even though it wasn’t their birthday.
Instead, it was the birthday of a 6-year-old girl named Makayla Buckingham, who wanted to make kids with cancer happy.
For the second year in a row, Makayla – who is battling cancer too – asked her classmates to help her with a birthday toy drive and was able to collect dozens of fun things to share.
Makayla’s mom explained that it’s a big deal for Makayla to bring joy to others because she knows uncomfortable it is to be sitting in a room when you want to be outside playing.
And so, for another year, Makayla was able to make sitting in a hospital room as fun as possible for the kids she’s met at the hospital. (KTRK-TV)
