Divorced parents Victoria Baldwin and Adam Dyson split after three years of marriage, but they share a 4-year-old son named Bruce and they make sure each year to continue an important family tradition.
Victoria and Bruce live in South Carolina. Adam, who is in the military, currently lives in Alaska.
Geography may keep them all far apart, but each year they make sure to reunite for one special purpose – their family portrait.
Victoria says she got the idea after thinking about her own childhood and realizing that she didn't have any family pictures with both of her parents who were also divorced.
She says, "I thought it was important for Bruce to see the photos of him with both of his parents, and I certainly didn’t want to throw the [previous] photos away after divorce – that just seemed silly!"
Victoria, who says Bruce loves having his parents together, says she wants other divorced couples to realize that the divorce is between the parents and has nothing to do with the child. She says, "Your child needs two parents who love them, not necessarily parents who love each other. I am a child of divorce and I only wish my parents could have managed a yearly photo at best. Bruce didn’t ask for the divorce, we did. So we need to sacrifice to make sure he doesn’t have to.” To see the pic click - People.
